Do you feel disconnected from your spouse? Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like you know one another and you’re lonely in your relationship.
Have you been struggling to resolve conflict & are sick of arguing with your partner? You want to have peace in your house, but the same fights keep coming up over and over in your relationship.
Are you and your partner new parents trying to figure out how to navigate through parenthood AND marriage? You and your spouse seem to have have different ideas of how to raise children and neither of you feels appreciated or understood by the other.
Have you wondered if you’re marriage heading for divorce? You don’t want to go there even in your head, but you just don’t know how to approach all of the problems in your relationship.
You and your partner need help reconnecting, communicating and restoring intimacy to your relationship.
“We are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we can heal in relationship.” -Harville Hendrix
You and your partner know that something needs to change, but you aren’t sure what. So, you’re considering couples therapy or marriage counseling. I know that it’s hard to ask for help. And couples therapy can be particularly hard to begin, because both partners have to agree not only to come in but on which therapist you are going to work with.
Why see a Marriage Counseling & Couples Therapy Expert?
If you had a heart condition, would you want to go to your general practitioner? Maybe for the initial screen, but I’m guessing you’d then take their advice and go see a cardiologist. Think of a couples counselor as the cardiologist. Sometimes we help with small relationship problems, and sometimes we help with big problems such as when a married couple is on the brink of divorce. Regardless, if your problem is in the relationship, you want an expert to help you navigate through the situation and find healing in your relationship.
At Main Line Marriage Counseling I specialize in helping couples in crisis. I am passionate about helping couples and I believe in the power of good relationship.
Who Comes to Marriage Counseling?
There are numerous reasons couples come in for couples counseling. Common reasons include infidelity, lots or arguments and conflict in the relationship, communication problems, lacking intimacy or feeling disconnected. Maybe you and your partner are already separated or you live together but haven’t been intimidate in months or years. Sometimes couples come in because their marriage has struggled to adjust after having children-postpartum concerns or co-parenting difficulties. Or perhaps you’re at the opposite end of the spectrum where children have left the home and you realize there’s very little left between you and your partner after so many years of focusing on children.
The truth is, any reason you want to come in is okay. Seriously. If you’re not sure of why, if you’re not sure if it’s worth it, if you’re on the fence, if you’re feeling on the verge of having an affair, if you’re unhappy but haven’t told your partner how unhappy you are, or any other reason, it’s all okay. Couples counseling can work through and with all of those things (plus more).

My Approach to Couples & Marriage Therapy
I aim to empower my couples to be able to make decisions they are struggling with; to push them to be heard and have a voice in their own life; to become experts on themselves and their relationships. I have been trained in very specific couples therapy approaches including the Gottman method. I seek our trainings on couples & marriage counseling issues on a regular basis. However, I pride myself on tailoring my therapy approach to each couple and their individual needs. Couples therapy focuses on identifying the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that underlie ineffective patterns and helps to actualize the dreams of both partners.
At Main Line Marriage Counseling I offer sessions for couples looking to create a deeper and lasting relationship. I believe you can have the relationship you have always desired and I am here to help you! Couples Therapy is a proven strategy that allows couples to stay together; work through their fighting and develop new ways to communicate; connect or respectfully dissolve a relationship that is at its end.
When You’re Ready, Couples Counseling Can Help
If you’re having trouble, you and your relationship are worth improving. Other than our family of origin, the family we choose becomes one of the biggest influences on our growth, development, sadness and happiness. This doesn’t mean that it will be easy.
The good news is that couples counseling does work and can help. I help couples reconnect and find joy, love and excitement in their relationship again all of the time. Our counseling sessions are structured for change. I’ll ask that you as a couple begin to relate differently in session and practice the new communication strategies in my office. However, it’s important to note that in order to see change each partner has to be willing to do the work. Are you ready to get your relationship or marriage back? Isn’t your happiness worth it?
